People working in bulk fuel storage facilities will be responsible for maintaining the tanks and pumps. This includes inspecting the tanks for corrosion and other signs of wear and tear, cleaning and lubricating the tanks, and conducting regular maintenance and service checks to ensure that the tanks and pumps are working correctly. This may include climbing ladders and walking along elevated walkways.

Additionally, they must ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that the tanks are always properly filled and securely sealed. They are also responsible for regularly checking fuel levels and disposing of any fuel waste in accordance with local and federal regulations. They must also be able to respond to emergency procedures.

Some of these tasks may not be appropriate or safe for a person with significant mobility impairment, especially a person that uses a wheelchair. It is also worth noting that if such a person was permitted to work in this type of environment, there might be workplace health and safety issues in ensuring a safe workplace.
